RD Engineering and Manufacturing
History
RDE was founded in 1986 by Bob Doherty with a contract from United Electric Control to cast thermal compensation rods using RTV. For many years the company focused on molding, casting parts from urethanes, RTV's and thermoset epoxies. From the potting work that was being done on some cable assembly contracts in the early 90's, RDE bid and won a contract to fabricate a series of cable assemblies and the die was cast for its future. From its humble beginnings in a cellar, it has grown to one of the premier cable assembly houses in New England.

President
Bob Doherty
Bob has 40+ years of Engineering, Manufacturing and Managerial experience.
He started his career in the industrial ultrasonics field working in the transducer test department calculating tuning networks and participating in the automated test development project. He rapidly advanced to the application team, helping researchers and the sales group to understand the best ultrasonic method for any given material. He coauthored papers like "Using Ultrasound to Detect Root Carries" for Forsyth Dental. And was an integral member of the GM team developing an ultrasonic measurement system for the GM Saturn vehicle program. This system measured the thickens of paint minimizing cost and maximizing quality. He next became an expert in automated test development for Panametrics, Quantum Corporation’s Hi-Capacity Hard Disk group, National Instruments MCC, and Teledyne Marines Communications and AUV group. This took him abroad to manufacturing facilities from Hungary to Japan.
Bob has held many positions from individual contributor, group manager, program manager, GM and president.
His skills include hardware design, software architecture and development, coding in C, C++, VB6, & C#, IEEE 488 instrument control, and MCC DAQ devices.
Since 2006 he has led RDE, dedicating himself to developing its growth as a leading Contract Manufacture specializing in custom cable assemblies.
Bob holds degrees from Massasoit Community College, ASEET, Wentworth Institute of Technology, BSEET, DeVry Institute of Technology, Bachelor in Technical Management and attended Keller Graduate school of Management. He also holds Level I & II certificates in ultrasonic weld inspection.
