RD Engineering and Manufacturing
History
RDE was founded in 1986 by Bob Doherty with a contract from United Electric Control to cast thermal compensation rods using RTV. For many years the company focused on molding, casting parts from urethanes, RTV's and thermoset epoxies. From the potting work that was being done on some cable assembly contracts in the early 90's, RDE bid and won a contract to fabricate a series of cable assemblies and the die was cast for its future. From its humble beginnings in a cellar, it has grown to one of the premier cable assembly houses in New England.

President
Bob Doherty
Bob has 30+ years of Engineering, Manufacturing and Managerial experience.
Having spent his early years working in the Industrial Ultrasonics Industry he has co-authored papers such as using Ultrasound to Detect Root Carries for Forsyth Dental. He solved many difficult material analysis applications using ultrasound such as the paint thickness program for the Saturn vehicles developed by GM to minimize cost while increasing quality. He spent several years developing automated tests for the manufacturing environment as a contributor, group manager and programs manager. He has designed test fixture hardware, architected and wrote test code in C, C++, VB, & C# controlling fixture hardware, instruments and DAQ devices. His career has taken him abroad managing the DAQ test programs while working for National Instruments traveling to Hungary to oversee the implementation; as well as the Hi-Capacity Hard Disk Industry while working for Quantum Corporation traveling to Japan to streamline testing of the manufacturing builds.
Since 2006 he has led RDE, dedicating himself to developing its growth as a leading Contract Manufacture specializing in custom cable assemblies.
Bob holds degrees from Massasoit Community College, ASEET, Wentworth Institute of Technology, BSEET, DeVry Institute of Technology, Bachelor's in Technical Management and Keller Graduate school of Management. He also holds Level I & II Certificates in Ultrasonic Weld Inspection.
